PROFIBUS can support up to 32 devices in one segment, and a maximum of 126 devices depending on the overall system configuration. When using shielded twisted pair (STP), PROFIBUS topologies in industrial environments allow for bus, tree, and star configurations (as well as combinations of these topologies).
