Industry NewsSiemens China announced on April 23 that Siemens will launch its first generative artificial intelligence product for industrial engineering design, Siemens Industrial Copilot, at the 2024 Hannover Messe. Combined with TIA software, the product can automatically generate virtualization tasks and code for programmable logic controllers (PLCs), reducing the workload of engineering teams and reducing error rates, thereby shortening development cycles and improving production efficiency.
It is reported that Industrial Copilot has cooperated with Microsoft's Azure OpenAI service to further enrich functions and strengthen the creation and optimization of code in factory automation software. At the International Industrial Automation and Components Exhibition (SPS) in Nuremberg, Germany, Siemens and Schaeffler collaborated to demonstrate generative AI-enhanced production equipment.
At the 2024 Hannover Messe, Siemens officially launched the first generative artificial intelligence product for engineering, promoting generative artificial intelligence from concept to large-scale application.
New features of Siemens Industrial Copilot include automatic code generation in Structured Control Language (SCL) without copy-pasting and interpreting code blocks, simplifying the creation process of virtual machines or factories. In addition, engineering teams can search manuals in natural language. Customers can also choose to access a dedicated instance of Azure OpenAI Service. Rainer Brehm, CEO of Factory Automation at Siemens Digital Industries, said that Industrial Copilot will drive changes in engineering design processes, alleviate technical talent shortages, improve production efficiency, and accelerate sustainable development. Siemens plans to promote generative AI assistant solutions in various industries such as automotive, infrastructure, transportation, and healthcare.
